Study on chicory (cichorium intybus L. var. foliosum) optimization roots grotwh

Investigations were carried out in 2010 to optimize chicories' roots' growing in LUA Horticulture catedral garden. To optimize chicories' roots' growing was carried out two-factor investigation: factor A – sowing time, B – growing distances among plants. It was determined, that the medium mass of roots' that were grown 7,1 – 8 cm distances and sown earlier (VI.03 d.) was reliably the biggest (0,495 g). The smallest mass of the roots was these, that grown 5 – 6 cm distances and sown later (VI.15 d.). To compare with investigation average, reliably the pargest diametre of root (6,6 cm) was roots, that grown 6,1 – 7 cm diametre and sown earlier (VI. 3 d.). Reliably the biggest yield of the roots' (59,4 t ha-1) was determined these roots, that grown at the biggest distance (7,1 -8 cm) and sown earlier (VI.03 d.). Reliably the biggest content of dry matter (28,36 %) was determined in the roots that were sown VI.03 d. and grown 5 – 6 cm distance. To compare with average of investigation, reliably the biggest amount of vitamin C (63,4mg kg-1) was determined in the roots, that grown 5 - 6 cm and sown on the third of June-93,2 mg kg-1.The biggest amount of potassium (1124,55 mg kg-1) was determined in the roots, that grown in 7,1 – 8 cm distances.
