The influence of core stabilization exercise on multifidus muscle cross-sectionnal area and asymmetry size with low back pain

The object is: effect of spine stabilization exercises on multifidus muscle cross-sectional area and asymmetry size and intensity of low back pain.

Research problem is: the multifidus muscle cross-sectional area changes during the low back pain.

Research hypothesis: we believe, that during the low back pain, is observed multifidus muscle cross-section asymmetry, which decrease after core stabilization exercises.

Therefore, our aim was to find out, the influence of core stabilization exercise on multifidus muscle cross-section area and asymmetry size with low back pain.

how low back pain depends on multifidus muscle cross-sectional area size and asymmetry, and what influence for the muscle cross-sectional area and asymmetry have specific physical exercise program.

The objectives of study are: to measure and compare multifidus muscle cross-sectional are before and after the specific physical exercise program; to measure and compare multifidus muscle asymmetry before and after the specific physical exercise program; asses low back pain changes before and after the specific program of physical exercise.

The methods of the study: ultrasound imaging, Oswestry disability index questionnaire, a visual analogue pain scale, anthropometric data and mathematical statistical analysis.

Conclusions:

1. After the core stabilization exercise program multifidus muscle cross-section area significantly increased (p < 0,05) in both groups.

2. It was found, that after the core stabilization exercise program, multifidus muscle asymmetry significantly (p < 0,05) decreased in both groups.

3. After the core stabilization exercise program low back pain intensity significantly (p < 0,05) decreased.
