The objective of the paper is to assess the harmonization of the Common European Asylum Policy and Lithuanian national asylum policy.

The results of the research confirm that Common European Asylum Policy is eligible for Lithuania, though the process of Lithuanian national asylum policy harmonization with Common European Asylum Policy is not complete. The main problematic aspects of the harmonization is Lithuanian government‘s strict attitude towards asylum applicants‘ right to work and refusal to implement this obligatory provision of the Reception Conditions directive; unlimited term of asylum applicants‘ detention; unavailable profession and language courses for asylum applicants; term of the appeal is too short. Also, Lithuania refused to participate in any programs of refugee burden-sharing or solidarity incentive, though Lithuania‘s accepted refugee burden is one of the lowest in European Union.
