Education is very important in child‘s life. The aim of this process is to stimulate an individual to study all his life and to improve himself as personality. The success of education, the results can depend on number of factors (for example, influence of environment, child‘s preparation to study, maturity, personal characteristics, etc.). Education ir influenced by the whole complex of different factors and adaptation of the child too.

The subject of research. Adaptation factors of the first – formers at schoo.

The objective – to analyse the factors and their influence on adaptation of the first – formers at schoo.

The goals of the research:

1. To carry out theoretical sagacity of pupils‘ adaptation during the process of education;

2. To reveal the factors which have influence on the adaptation of the first – formers;

3. To analyse a standpoint of primary school teachers concerning adaptation of the first – formers.

The methods of the work: analysis of the documents, analysis of the scientific literature, method of questioning, statistical analysis of the questioning data.

In the theoretical part of this work there are discussed different documents and laws which regulate preconditions of adapting the first – formers into the system of education, peculiarities of children age, maturity for school and conception of adaptation, peculiarities of adaptation, factors and their influence over the adaptation of the first – formers at school, the main concepts are revealed.

The research was carried out in January – February, 2009. The respondents were the teachers of primary education who work at comprehensive schools in utena district. During empirical research it was cleared up that the startof attending school is very important for the first – formers, their parents (tutors) and teachers. Acording to teachers, adaptation of the future first – formers starts before school because children start preparations at preschool education groups (for example, they attend school, become acquainted with their future teachers, school environment, classrooms, rules, observe lessons, take part in the common holidays, etc.). The teachers agree that at school the first – formers face the various difficulties (for example, the day‘s routine changes, demands for self – dependence, weak social habits, etc.) so, communication and behaviour problems arise, because of pupil‘s incapability to concentrate, unsuitable behaviour, intercommunication, etc. The teachers want to avoid problems connected with adaptation, so they initiate individual conversations with parents (tutors), advise them, pay more attention to know individual characteristics of pupils, maintain closer relations with their parents (tutors), etc. The abilities of primary school teachers are very important. They have to know a pupil, his needs and know how to take into account this. They have to create favourable conditions to adopt values to know the content of primary education, to be able to interpret it and put into practice creatively during the process of education, to plan and organise the process of education, to understand the purpose of evaluation, to know child‘s family, which is very important during the process of adaptation.

That is why, it can be stated that a teacher is one of the main people who has an influence over the successful adaptation of the first – formers at school.

Problems questions which are formulated in the introduction were proved correct. Legal basis which regulate preschool and primary education, ensure successful adaptation of the first – formers at school. The research showed that the adaptation of the first – formers at school is influenced by various (outer and inver) factors, but the most important is the relationship between family, teacher and child, their communication. For teacher a very important thing is to plan properly, organise and implement activity of the first – formers education, try to achieve successful adaptation of pupils in the first form.
