Applaying methods of acting in the process of teaching the second fireign language (German) of the 6-10 grade students
Santrauka [EN]

This Master of Education degree paper deals with the opportunities of applying methods of acting in the process of teaching the second language (German). The experimental research is being presented. The problem of the research: what educational influence on the students of the 6-10- grades methods of acting have while developing their language skills at a comprehensive school. The goal of the research: to ascertain whether applying methods of acting helps develop 6-10 grade students’ second language skill abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing). Tasks of the research: 1. finding out the relationship between the methods of acting and 6-10- grade students’ activity forms and explain these methods’ integration connection with the students’ activity (the German language) content. 2. to motivate the importance of the methods of acting while teaching foreign languages. 3. to define the efficiency of the applying of the methods of acting. 4. to discuss the opportunities of the applying of the methods of acting. Methods of the research: Theoretical - analysis of the scientific literature and educational supplies. Empirical - diagnostic tasks, experimental research, questionnaires, observation of the investigated. The hypothesis of the research: It is believed that skills of the second language are successfully developed if language activity forms in the teaching process (speaking, listening, reading and writing) are constantly connected with the elements of acting.

The research took place at Vilnius secondary school in 6-10 grade students groups of the German language in September-February, 2007-2008. The number of the investigated was 38 students. The students were taught according the estimated program, goals and routine teaching process, which has been enriched by the methods of acting during the lessons. Generally speaking, the results of the experimental research proved that particular changes in the students language skills have been found.

Conclusions: 1. The results of the experiment have proved the supposition that applying methods of acting together with the traditional methods of teaching can successfully improve the teaching of the second language, mainly, German. 2. Applying the methods of acting can seek for better results. Students are not only involved in the material of the subject but also master it better. 3. Applying of the methods of acting not only helps develop students’ language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) but also stimulates students’ motivation to study, helps get rid of stress, stimulates creativity, gives an impact of self-confidence, develops thinking and imagination. 4. Teaching methods of acting are used together with the traditional methods of teaching, which should take much more important place in teaching a foreign language.

The formulated author’s scientific hypothesis of the research is that the second language skills develop successfully if language activity forms in the process of teaching (speaking, listening, reading and writing) are constantly connected with the elements of acting.
