The purpose of the current study is to explore and compare factors influencing subjective person-organization fit of members from different municipality’s administration divisions.
The sample consisted of 59 interviewees selected from tree diverse in work specificity municipality’s administration divisions. There were interviewed 19 people from Children rights protection service, 21 – from Social affairs division’s Economic and finance subdivision and 19 people from Property management division. Participants were similar with their age and working experience.
Subjective person-organization fit was explored using storytelling and causal mapping techniques. Questions on sociodemographic data of participants were also provided. Research process consisted of four stages: introduction, mapping process, gathering of sociodemographic data, Perceived fit questionnaire filling and completion.
The results of the study revealed that members from different municipality’s administration divisions mentioned 8 discrete domains linked directly to person-organization fit and 59 factors emerging from them. These 8 domains were: Personal features, Working conditions, Organization of work, Appreciation, Qualification, Perfection, Values and Relationships. The results shows that peoples from Social affairs division’s Economic and finance subdivision more frequently mentioned thoughtfulness, work area, understanding of working specificity and book-keeper knowledge as factors influencing person-organization fit. Members of Children rights protection service frequently mentioned decision making skills, initiative and employer demands. Whereas Property management division’s staff indicated – working facilities, collaboration and manager.
There was a connection between sociodemographic data of municipality’s administration employees and different features causing person-organizacion fit, because older and more experienced employees more frequently identified manager as important feature contributing to person-organization fit and those, who have been staying in organization for a longer period environment as an important feature contributing to their fit.
Finally, the results revealed that employees, perceiving their fit as a stronger, identified management skills, swift orientation and result’s factor as an important feature contributing to person-organization fit. Whereas, employees, perceiving their fit as a week one, identified advertence, patience, tolerance and salary as an important factors contributing to their person-organization fit. Some recommendations on practical issues are provided.
