Different amateur art groups have always existed and they will in Lithuanian villages. Good common atmosphere of the village can give better results in agriculture or industry of the village. Intelligent, creative, spiritually strong people are needed not only in cities but in the villages, too.

The aim of the work is to analyze the relations between village people artistic activities and their social activity.

An issue of the work is: whether village inhabitant being very active in amateur art activities can become active in his/her social sphere, i.e. he/ she has his/her opinion about values, developed civil responsibility, is very active in social life.

The objectives of the work:

1.to evaluate social art functions;

2.to identify artistic activities spheres, where social activity of village people asserts;

3.to explore the bond of a village people participation in amateur art activities and their social activity.

The research has shown that members of the community who participate actively in the amateur art activities are also active in making decisions about their and self – government issues but are more reserved in participating in country or local authorities elections.
